A small remembrance ceremony was held at George's son Kirk's home in San
Jose on Sunday, March 10th, 2013. In attendance were most of his immediate
relatives and some very close friends. His wife Edith was not in
attendance as she had a health issue that prevented her from
leaving the care facility.
Kirk and Vickie's backyard was a very nice venue and the weather was ideal for the event.
The temperature was about 64 degrees in the shade... perfect!
Vickie's father, Earl, and Nick Wilson sang a special duet of "How Great Thou Art".
Ruth Durfey Wilson, Kirk and Vickie's long time friend, Camille. Fluffy also took an active interest in the activities.
Nick, Kirk and Vickie's youngest son, Brian, and Bruce Leong, another long time family friend. Brian was recording the event for Edith to see.
Jim Hodges and his wife, Sam. He was one of George's best friends and coworkers at SRI. Jim told us a few very interesting stories about working with George over the years and how George had gained a reputation of building equipment that was built right!

Sharlene Durfey, Ilah (Vickie's mother), Susan Durfey (Bill's ex-wife and Sharlene's mother) and Emily Gascho, a cousin. Emily flew in from Minnesota. She was connected by iPhone to her mother Judy who was at home in Minnesota.

Karen Durfey and Heather Wilson. Heather flew in from Washington, DC. She was connected by the iPhone FaceTime to Rex and Mary (Durfey) Dodson and John Durfey in Winona, MN so they could see and hear the event.
Everyone contributed by telling something of their personal interaction with George over the years.
After the remembrance was over, everyone went to Earl and Ilah's home in Cupertino for lunch. Ilah did a great job with good food, drink and desert!
